My Adventures With Movies

I LOVE MOVIES! As a film student at Los Angeles City College's Department of Cinema and TV Production from 2010-2015, I studied directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, acting, film history, and film analysis. Taking this deep dive into the structure and content of movies enhanced my ability to understand their power as a contemplative teaching tool.

As a film student, I produced three award-winning short films, which you can watch here, along with my other comedy films.

In "Dad vs Rabbit", a quirky backyard comedy, Dad battles the rabbit that destroys his garden. Written by and starring Walter Brauer.

"The Shopping Cart and the Brujo" is a comic mini-morality tale in which a possessed shopping cart comes to the rescue of the hungry children at the Valley Shelter Mission. Written by Walter Brauer. Starring Randi Tahara, Walter Brauer, Rhoda Pell and Pablo Marz.

In the dramatic horror short "Piano for Three Hands", after Maria's brilliant career as a concert pianist is cut short when she loses her right hand, her husband, Paul, a medical engineer obsessed with her music, is driven to take frightening measures to restore her ability to play. Written by Walter Brauer. Starring Camille Natta and John Paul Ouvrier.

In 2010, I was invited to stage a scene from "His Good Fight", an original screenplay by Walter Brauer, at the Santa Monica Director's Showcase. "His Good Fight" is a story about a passionate, All-American machinist who loses his job to a computerized Japanese milling machine and reluctantly takes in a foreign woman as a boarder. Starring Randi Tahara, Gary Klavens, Alex Salem and Keiko Noto.
